Just like home appliances or office equipment, playground equipment is also subject to wear and tear.
It’s the responsibility of the playground owner to clean equipment regularly; of course, that includes the flooring and other surfaces as well.
Children at play will run at their hearts’ content, jump from high places, or even roll over the floor as they enjoy their day. They can also touch any surface when they need support standing up.
Don’t let them play in a dirty playground. Here are ways on how to get started in cleaning playground surfaces.
Floors — double-check if there are accumulated sand, rocks, and dirt, and clean it with a good brush.
Coated metal and plastic-feeling material — use a damp cloth and mild detergent. You can also use soft brushes to remove dirt from ropes or crevices.
Pure metal and plastic equipment — clean both with soap and water. Also, double-check if there are rusts or signs of deterioration.
Windows — use ammonia-free window cleaners.
Windows, Domes, and other equipment prone to scratches — Do not use paper towels. Also, don’t use abrasive scrubbers if the play equipment doesn’t allow it.
Wooden equipment or wooden parts of play equipment — first, check if there are cracks and splinters. The next step is to clean the wood using a brush. In case the wood is stained or varnished, revitalize the wood if needed.
If you want a safe indoor playground, make sure to provide time for regular cleaning and maintenance. It’s advisable to do the cleaning before opening the play area and during afterhours. You can also consult an expert playground manufacturer to provide you tips with the proper care with equipment.
