After a remarkable opening last year, PLAY at OKADA still remains as a hotspot for free play. The combination of technology and traditional play has brought opportunities for children to become creative in their games, whether with new or old friends.
What is PLAY?
Ivaylo Ivanov, Okada’s vice president for hotel operations said during a media preview in 2018 said: “PLAY stands for ‘Purposeful Learning and Activities for the Young.’ It is Okada Manila’s family-friendly indoor fun facility where child’s play is elevated to an engaging and enriching experience.” And, yes, a year has passed and PLAY still lives up to its name.
As parents, if you want your children — within ages 1 to 16 — to have a blast while learning, PLAY offers eight zones within its walls. These zones have their own set of rules, so make sure your child is fit and in the right age to enter a specific zone.
Features
There is the Mini Steps & Mini Me that is perfect for toddlers who are still learning to crawl. Parent’s won’t have to worry too much since the area is cushioned, already conditioned for the learning toddlers.
On the other hand, preschool kids can let their imagination take over their future with Little Town, a zone that allows them to role-play what they want to be in the future. If they want to be like their parents, become a baker, or even own their own shop, Little Town offers a glimpse of adulthood with fun and friendship. As for the healthy kids of the bunch, they can unleash their energy in the slides, climbing wall, zip line, barrel roll, and other obstacles of the Little Park.
Adventure & Sports
But, if you have kids already in grade school, the Sports Zone is open for them to break a sweat. This zone offers a mini soccer field and basketball court to allow them to challenge their peers. Meanwhile, Janguru and Wizard’s Den allows them to take up adventures. Janguru is a zone that offers a multilevel playground of tubes, nets, slides, and ladders, while Wizard’s Den is a game attraction where the kids will need to move their hands to fight off medieval monsters.
PLAY also offers a stage where children can showcase and enhance their talents, and a party place specifically made for events, such as parties and private get-togethers.
A trip to PLAY at OKADA is not all about the unique zones, but it also boasts of its learning facility. The indoor playground houses former principals, occupational therapists, and SPED teachers to spearhead the educational programs being offered. Called coaches, they lead classes and other activities during opening hours. The classes, which are also available for kids with special needs, cover various topics, such as arts, crafts, communication, music, dance, academics, and life skills.
Safety
Aside from the fun and games, PLAY is serious when it comes to security as there are Thirty-four strategically-placed CCTV cameras to keep an eye on every part of the indoor playground and the signing in takes time as it’s a three-tier process. The staff are also first aid- and CPR-qualified, while there is an emergency response team near the area to respond when there are emergencies.
