Indoor playgrounds are prone to bacteria since there are a lot of children playing in these places. As for indoor play area businesses, it’s a must to inspect the play area on a daily basis, along with a scheduled maintenance to ensure the safety of children, parents, and playground staff.
Playgrounds should impose a routine inspection, which can be done after closing time and opening time, to find out which equipment should be cleaned more, fixed or replaced. Also, staff should be trained to look for the equipment that should be placed on the “maintenance list”.
For indoor playgrounds, success is tied up with maintenance. If the play area is not maintained, families will stop bringing their children. Don’t let this happen to the indoor playground. Here are maintenance tips for indoor playground equipment.
Post Padding — these materials wrap posts in order to prevent collision with children. Double check if there are signs of wear and tear, protruding zip ties, and missing pieces. In the case of missing padding and zip ties, make sure to replace immediately.
Indoor Play Netting — netting is used to catch children from falling or part of an activity, such as climbing. It’s a must to make sure every inspection that netting is secure and intact. When there are signs of wear and tear or a trace of small tears and holes, sew it back together to avoid making it better, which is a big problem in the future since it can become an entrapment problem or let children fall through instead of catching them.
Safety Foam Mats and Floors — pay attention to potential tripping hazards and replace if needed. Also, make sure to clean thoroughly to remove dirt.
Plastic Equipment — since these are the most used equipment by children. Equipment should be double checked if there are existing cracks and if these can still withstand the weight of children to avoid injuries. Replace immediately if there are looming cracks to make sure children are safe during play.
Webbing and Vinyl — inspect the webbing and vinyls if secured or not. Lookout for tears on them, such as deck boards, web bridges, and web platforms.
